Lions Visit Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Orlando City battled Atlanta United to an epic 3-3 draw on Saturday in front of a MLS single-game record 70,425 fans. Goals came from Dom Dwyer and Cyle Larin for Orlando; Josef Martinez netted all three Atlanta goals.

The match was hotly contested throughout and both teams were clearly pushing for three points, which made for quite an open match. Orlando City never trailed in the 90 minutes, but couldn’t manage to find that killer goal to take a multi-goal lead and put Atlanta away.

Dwyer’s On Fire

Dom Dwyer opened his Orlando City SC goal-scoring account in style. The Lions striker headed home two goals in the opening half yesterday, and was a thorn in Atlanta’s defense all game long.

Dwyer, who joined the Lions in the latest summer transfer window, was in top-form on Saturday. His strengths as a striker - aerial prowess, dangerous movement, solid hold-up play, clinical finishing - were on full display during the match.

It looks like Dom is finding his groove in Purple.

City’s Record Goal-Scorer Strikes Again

With his goal last week against D.C. United, Cyle Larin became Orlando City’s all-time leading scorer at 43 goals. 43 quickly became 44 when Larin scored a header to give his team a 3-2 lead against Atlanta on Saturday.

Larin’s striking partner, Dom Dwyer, assisted the goal by curling a left-footed cross to the edge of the six yard box for the powerful Canadian to head into the back of the net. Larin and Dwyer, who have directly combined for two goals in Orlando City’s last two matches, are showing promising signs of becoming a dominant striking partnership. .
