Breaking Down City's Remaining 2017 Regular Season Schedule

reg season schedule

A rundown of each Orlando City match remaining on the 2017 MLS regular season schedule:

Saturday, Aug. 26 - Orlando City vs. Vancouver Whitecaps (6th in West)
Three vital points are up for grabs in City’s final home match before embarking on a four-game road trip. Brek Shea, who was traded for Giles Barnes in the offseason, makes his return to Orlando and Tony Tchani is suspended after being sent off against Seattle. Saturday night will be one of four remaining home matches for the Lions.

Saturday, Sept 2 - Orlando City @ New England Revolution (10th in East)
The first of six September matches for Orlando City will be against New England. The Revs recently lost star midfielder Kelyn Rowe to a knee sprain that will sideline the US international for 6-8 weeks. This will be an intra-conference matchup Orlando City is surely capable of winning.

Saturday, Sept 9 - Orlando City @ D.C. United (11th in East)
Another road match which City will feel confident in getting a result. The Lions defeated D.C. by a score of 2-0 earlier this season at Orlando City Stadium. Goals for the Lions came from Cyle Larin and Giles Barnes on a wet night in Orlando.

Saturday, Sept 16 - Orlando City @ Atlanta United (7th in East)
The third and final matchup of the season against Orlando’s Southern foes. Atlanta is on the playoff bubble themselves, so the stakes are even higher than they were earlier this summer. This game will take place in the new Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Sunday, Sept 24 - Orlando City @ Portland Timbers (2nd in West)
Orlando’s toughest fixture in the coming weeks will be a road match against Portland. The Timbers are always tough in Providence Park, but the Lions will be hunting for three points. Orlando City hold a perfect 2-0-0 record against the Timbers. This match will be nationally televised on FS1.

Wednesday, Sept 27 - Orlando City vs New England Revolution (10th in East)
Orlando City will travel home after the match in the Pacific Northwest to host New England in a mid-week match. This fixture will kick off Orlando City’s three-match homestand.

Saturday, Sept 30 - Orlando City vs FC Dallas (5th in West)
A tough home fixture sees Orlando City against a quality Western Conference opponent: FC Dallas. The match will mark Orlando City’s 100th competition in Major League Soccer.

Sunday, Oct. 15 - Orlando City vs Columbus Crew (4th in East)
A rematch of the recent 1-1 draw between these teams at Orlando City Stadium. The Lions will have another crack at Crew SC -- who return to the Fortress for Orlando City’s 2017 home finale. This match could have massive playoff implications.

Sunday, Oct. 22 - Orlando City @ Philadelphia Union (9th in East)
Orlando City will wrap up the regular season on the road against Philadelphia. The Lions have beaten the Union in their previous two encounters -- including last year’s season finale -- by a combined score of 4-1.
