Orlando City Resumes Busy Schedule on Saturday

Busy Schedule Saturday

After a week’s worth of rest and a U.S. Open Cup match, the Lions have a tough stretch of matches on the horizon.

“It’s kind of nice to have a weekend when you don’t have a game,” said Head Coach Jason Kreis after training on Monday. “The only problem is you tend to ask yourself, ‘every morning what day of the week it is,’ but we’ve got it figured out now. It’s Monday, the start of a brand new work week, game Wednesday night, and then a big game Saturday as well.”

Orlando City played a  US Open Cup match on Wednesday night and will now face the Montreal Impact at home this Sunday.

“We thought the month of May was difficult, but to me the month of June looks even more stacked with games, Kreis said. “We’re basically looking at two games a week for the next many weeks. That basically means all hands on deck. Every player that’s on our roster should be contributing on some fashion, and we expect them to step up and take their opportunities.”

Lions’ defender Jonathan Spector said the break was beneficial for the team and that they have a lot on the line to gain.

“There’s a lot of points to pick up for us in a short period of time,” Spector said. “That’s the way we’re looking at it, the way we have to look at it. There’s a lot to play for and hopefully we can continue to climb the table.”
