Lions Regain Momentum After Win Against D.C.

Momentum DC

Momentum is once again Orlando City’s after six games without a win.

“It’s been a disappointing stretch of games for us,” said defender Johnathan Spector. “We lost some games in this stretch that we probably should of won… But what’s remain is our togetherness and our constant belief in what we’re doing.”

The Lions defeated D.C. United 2-0 at home Wednesday night, and Head coach Jason Kreis breathed a sigh of relief after the match.

“Obviously, really pleased to get the three points,” Kreis said. “Really, really pleased with the guys’ efforts and commitment level tonight. I think they got what they deserve; they got the three points and they worked really hard for it.”

Forwards Cyle Larin and Giles Barnes scored for Orlando City. Barnes netted a goal for the first time as a Lion, and Larin broke his three-game scoring drought.

“The harder you work, the luckier you get,” Barnes said after the match. “Today, I got lucky.”

Orlando City will look to carry its momentum into the next match against Chicago on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the Fortress.

“It’s important that we got the win and got back to winning ways,” Barnes added. “It’s great to get that win at home as well, get the fans something to cheer about again; They’re always behind us no matter what. So, it’s good to give them something to actually cheer about. We come back again on Sunday and we need to repeat the same thing again.
