Atlanta United Finds Their Coach


Atlanta United has hired Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino as their first head coach. Martino comes with a lot of experience, most recently as the manager of Barcelona in the 2013-2014 season and the Argentine national team from 2014-2016. Atlanta United will be one of two MLS expansion teams entering the league in 2017.


Tranquillo Barnetta To Leave Union


Swiss midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta has announced that he will not return to the Philadelphia Union after the 2016 season. Barnetta plans to return to the Swiss league club FC St. Gallen, where he started his professional career in 2002. Barnetta has been a crucial part of the Union’s campaign this season, with five goals and four assists on the season. 


Kamara Shakes Up Golden Boot Race


Ola Kamara has shaken up the race for the Golden Boot, scoring two goals in Sunday’s match against the New England Revolution to give him 15 goals on the season and put him in a tie for fourth place. Ola scored 10 goals in his first 10 starts this season, after joining the Crew from FK Austria Vien. Bradley Wright-Phillips still sits in first place with 20 goals on the season, but he’s got some heavy competition rising.
