Kaká ‘Gets His Just Reward’ In Brace Against New York

On Sunday night, Orlando City finished off their three-game week with a 2-1 win over New York City FC (NYCFC) at Camping World Stadium. The game featured two goals by Orlando City team captain Kaká, his first two-goal game for the team in Major League Soccer.

“I’m happy with that as well because I could help my team,” Kaká said regarding his goals. “Every time I can say that the most important thing is when the team wins, and every time that I can help like this, it’s perfect.”

Kaká has had some strong offensive performances on the pitch, including a notable match that ended in a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire in which Kaká had both an assist and a goal. For Head Coach Jason Kreis, Kaká’s result is simply a reflection and reward for the hard work he puts in both on and off the field.

“Since I’ve been here, [Kaká’s] been performing, and really been working hard, and really fine-tuning the concepts that we’re trying to teach here and leading by example,” Kreis said after the match. “And that’s not just his performances in the matches, that’s day in and day out in the training sessions. And that matters big time… So, I really couldn’t be happier for a player that I feel like has been working so hard to finally get his just rewards in those two goals.”

Kaká’s effort did not go unnoticed by his teammates. Defender Tommy Redding spoke to the excellence of Kaká’s performance and how amazing it was to learn from a player like him. “It’s really amazing to watch him on and off the field,” Redding said. “He’s a great professional and he’s a great motivator.”

As for Kaká? He’s already looking forward. “Today was a special game for us,” he said after the match. “Now, we have almost ten days to work… and be ready.”
