Orlando City has Waived Midfielder Estrela

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jan. 30, 2016 – Orlando City SC announced today it has waived midfielder Estrela.

“We’d like to thank Estrela for his contributions to the Club during our final USL season and inaugural Major League Soccer campaign,” said Head Coach Adrian Heath. “We wish him the best of luck.”

The defensive midfielder originally joined the Lions in the latter stages of the team’s 2014 USL season, making six appearances. In the team’s first season in MLS, the Portuguese international made two appearances, featuring in the side’s friendlies against English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion and Louisville City FC.

Orlando City opens the 2016 MLS season at the Orlando Citrus Bowl against Real Salt Lake on Mar. 6. UPDATE: August 8, 2020 - Major League Soccer unveiled the framework of a revised schedule for the remainder of the 2020 season, with the League’s 25th season continuing in the home markets of the 26 clubs beginning August 12. At this time, MLS has announced the initial phase of the revised schedule for U.S. clubs through September 14 and plans to announce the balance of the regular season schedule by early September. More details on schedules for the Canadian teams will be announced in the near future. Attendance at matches will be determined by MLS and club leadership in accordance with applicable state and local guidelines.
