Portland defeats FC Dallas 3-1 in first leg of Western Conference Championship

The Portland Timbers defeated FC Dallas 3-1 on Sunday night in the first leg of the Western Conference Championship. The Timbers came out with a high octane offense which gave Liam Ridgewell, Dairon Asprilla, and Nat Borchers opportunities to score. Dallas put one on the board with a 62nd minute strike by Diego Valeri, giving Dallas an important road goal. The second leg will be next Sunday at FC Dallas. Portland will move on to the MLS Cup final if they avoid a 2-0 defeat, or a loss by three or more goals if they can find a road goal.
Columbus defeats New York Red Bulls 2-0 in first leg of Eastern Conference Championship

Kei Kamara continued his strong season by scoring his 25th goal across all competition in the 2-0 victory over the Red Bulls. Justin Meram also scored in front of the packed house at MAPFRE Stadium giving Columbus a 2-0 lead going into the second leg next Sunday. If Columbus can score a goal on the road, this weekend, their chances of advancing will increase drastically.
