On Thursday night, Orlando City players and staff will board a plane at Orlando International Airport and take an overnight trip to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. On Sunday afternoon theyâll help Flamengo celebrate their 120th anniversary with a friendly at the world famous MaracanĂŁ.
When the team arrives in Rio Friday morning, theyâll speak with some of the local media and then head to the team hotel on Copacabana Beach. After a few hours to rest, the team will hit the beach for what will surely be the most scenic training session of the season.
Saturday afternoon, the team will have the luxury of training at MaracanĂŁ. It will be the playersâ first opportunity to step foot on this historic ground and will help set the tone for next dayâs match.
On Sunday, the team will go through their normal pre-match routine at the hotel. This includes meetings, preparation, treatment, and team meals. Theyâll then board a bus to MaracanĂŁ for the 12:30 p.m. ET match (3:30 p.m. local time). Flamengo and Orlando City will follow a match between the Flamengo âArtists and Masters.â The âArtistsâ team will consist of local celebrities and entertainers, while the âMastersâ squad contains legends from Flamengoâs past.
In partnership with Walt Disney World, the Flamengo vs. Orlando City SC match will be streamed live in Portuguese on OrlandoCitySC.com.
The day following the match, Orlando City players and staff have a trip planned to Morro Do Vidigal to host a short clinic for local boys and girls. The team will then conclude their trip, catching a red eye back to Orlando.
