Kaká and Brek Shea among Top 10 in MLS Jerseys Sales

ORLANDO, Fla. – Oct. 22, 2015 – As the team approaches the final regular season game in its inaugural Major League Soccer (MLS) campaign, Orlando City midfielders Kaká and Brek Shea were listed in the top 10 for MLS jerseys sold in 2015 the Club and MLS announced today.

Kaká, who has been a household name in global soccer for numerous years, was ranked third, and USMNT midfielder Brek Shea, who made a return to MLS this year after spending nearly two years in England, was listed ninth. Both players finished above other marquee league players such as Robbie Keane, Sebastian Giovinco, Didier Drogba and many others.  |

The rankings are based on overall retail sales of adidas MLS jerseys on since the beginning of the 2015 MLS season.

“To have two of our players listed among the top 10 for most jerseys sold speaks volumes about the caliber of our players and the incredible fan support for the Club,” said Orlando City President and Founder Phil Rawlins. “Since joining MLS, it’s been our goal to become a well-recognized brand both nationally and internationally. To have two of our star players among the league leaders for jersey sales in our first year is certainly a step in the right direction.”

City is one of six MLS teams to have multiple players listed among the top 20 for most jerseys sold in 2015. In addition, Orlando was the only market not ranked in the top 10 in the United States to make the top 10 jersey selling list – showcasing the national appeal of the Club’s brand, its marquee players and immense fan following.

UPDATE: August 8, 2020 - Major League Soccer unveiled the framework of a revised schedule for the remainder of the 2020 season, with the League’s 25th season continuing in the home markets of the 26 clubs beginning August 12. At this time, MLS has announced the initial phase of the revised schedule for U.S. clubs through September 14 and plans to announce the balance of the regular season schedule by early September. More details on schedules for the Canadian teams will be announced in the near future. Attendance at matches will be determined by MLS and club leadership in accordance with applicable state and local guidelines.
