With Montreal's defeat of the New England Revolution on Saturday night the race for the final playoff spot in the east has been narrowed down to two. Below, you can take a look at how the table shapes up for these final two spots and the last remaining scenario for Orlando City's playoff hopes.
|TEAM||POINTS||GAMES PLAYED||GAMES REMAINING||GD||REMANING OPPONENTS|
|6||New England Revolution||47||33||1||-1||NYC|
|7||Orlando City SC||44||33||1||-9||PHI|
As you can see above, Orlando City only trails the Revolution by three points. The problem? The first tie breaker if both teams end up with 47 points is goal differential. Orlando City trails by eight goals in that category. To put that into perspective, if Orlando City were to defeat the Philadelphia Union 4-0 while New England lost to NYCFC 0-4, Orlando City would tie in points, goal differential, and would advance on goals scored.
That is the last remaining scenario for the Lions. We'll see how it plays out next weekend.
