Giovani dos Santos Shines in MLS Debut

Mexican star and LA Galaxy newcomer Giovani dos Santos played in his first MLS game on Sunday and contributed to LA’s 3-1 win over Seattle in a big way. Dos Santos assisted Robbie Keane’s 47th minute go-ahead goal and Keane returned the favor in the 64th, setting dos Santos free for a one-on-one with Seattle keeper Stefan Frei for the goal.

Red Bulls Complete Season Sweep of NYCFC
The New York Red Bulls took all nine points from their cross-town rivals. Bradley Wright-Phillips bagged four goals in those three games as NYRB won by a 7-2 aggregate. The win bumps them up to second in the East (22 GP, 36 points) and keeps NYC (23 GP, 24 points) four points back of Montreal with two extra games played.

Eastern Conference Table Tightens Up
Just three points separate seventh from fourth in the East following this weekend’s games. The results were favorable for Orlando City, who are now just three points back of New England with an even number of games played, as they continue to fight for the last playoff spot. D.C. United (25 GP, 44 points) held on to the top spot in the Supporter’s Shield standings following their win over Montreal.
