USWNT Wins Third World Cup Title Over Japan




For the first time since 1999, the U.S. Women’s National Team won the World Cup. In a rematch of the 2011 Final, the U.S. won in decisive fashion after going up 4-0 less than 20 minutes into the game and cruising on to the title, eventually winning their third title, 5-2.




Robbie Keane Nets Hat Trick in 4-0 Victory over Toronto FC

His first was from the penalty spot. His second was the finishing touch on a lovely combination from even closer. His third came off an intercepted pass intended for TFC keeper Chris Konopka. Watch all three of Robbie Keane’s goals here:


Eastern Conference Teams Neck-and-Neck in Standings

Just a single point separates second from sixth place in the current Eastern Conference standings. Orlando City and Crew SC (both 6-6-6, 24 pts) are tied for second with just 18 games played; the Revs have 24 points through 20 games. Toronto FC and NYRB are both at 23, but with just 16 and 17 games played, respectively. And look out for NYCFC. Winners of four of their last five, NYCFC are just three points out of sixth.

Jack Jewsbury Scores in Stoppage Time to Beat Quakes

The “Old Salty Dog” scored from a tough angle off a rebound in stoppage time to lift the Timbers over San Jose on Sunday night. “Old Salty Dog, He’s making little plays like that. You need that; good teams have that, guys that step up at different times, and you don’t know who it’s going to be. We’ve got that going right now,” said Timbers head coach Caleb Porter after the win.

NYCFC Officially Sign Andrea Pirlo

After weeks of speculation, Italian legend Andrea Pirlo has signed a deal to join David Villa and Frank Lampard at NYCFC. Pirlo is the three-time reigning Serie A Player of the Year and a World Cup champion from 2006. The signing comes as NYCFC has strung together four wins in its last five games, pulling to within three points of a playoff spot.
