Chris Wondolowski Becomes 9th 100-Goal Scorer in MLS History

In his 11th MLS season, San Jose striker Chris Wondowlowski netted his 100th career goal, becoming just the 9th player in MLS history to achieve the feat. MLSsoccer.com put together a fantastic video that shows each and every goal of his journey to the century mark.



MLS Homegrown Stars to Face Club América’s U-20 Squad

On July 28th, MLS’ youth stars will face Mexico’s Club América’s Under-20 squad at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado. The roster is yet to be determined, but will feature youth players who have climbed through MLS’ academies and signed professional contracts. Club América is considered one of the elite clubs in CONCACAF, beating the  Montréal Impact.  to win this years Champion’s League title for a sixth time.



L.A. Galaxy Honor Steven Gerrard and Liverpool with Ad

Steven Gerrard, Liverpool’s longtime captain, has played his final game at Anfield and will be joining the L.A. Galaxy this summer. The Galaxy took out an ad in the Liverpool Echo reads: “Ten years ago today, on one night in Istanbul, a leader became a legend. For the last 17 years, Liverpool has backed its loyal captain. To the club that set the example, from a city honored to carry that legacy. Thank you."



Philadelphia Union Suddenly in Eastern Conference Playoff Hunt

Two weeks ago, the Philadelphia Union were floundering at the bottom of the table, managing just five points through 11 games. The Union stunned D.C. United in stoppage time to steal three points last week and shutout the New York Red Bulls, 2-0, in Red Bull Arena on Sunday. All of the sudden, Philly sits just a point behind Orlando City SC for the final playoff spot in the East, although they do have an extra game played.



Kei Kamara Earns MLS Player of the Week

Columbus Crew striker Kei Kamara was honored with MLS’ Player of the Week after his two-goal performance against the Chicago Fire. Kamara struck first in the 8th minute, tapping in Ethan Finlay’s cross to put the Crew ahead. In the 55th minute, corner kick led to a pair of headers, the last of which Kamara directed under the bar to put Columbus ahead, 2-0. The Fire would come back to salvage a point, though, tying the game, 2-2.
