Rimando Reaches RSL Century-Mark with 2-1 Win Over Fire

In his 9th season with Real Salt Lake, Nick Rimando has reached a mark that few can match; earning is 100th win for Real Salt Lake. Rimando made 2 saves on 3 shots, as Chicago only managed to beat him from the penalty spot. Rimando’s milestone is yet another reason he is widely considered one of the best keepers in MLS. The win was Rimando’s 166th in his 16-year MLS career.

Red Bulls top NYC in Inaugural Big Apple Derby

NYCFC couldn’t come back from a 1-0 deficit despite a 65-minute man-advantage over the Red Bulls. Matt Miazga’s second yellow earned him an early shower, but Bradley Wright-Phillips’ second goal proved to be the dagger. The loss drops the NYCFC to 1-6-3.

Impact’s Struggles Continue with Disallowed Equalizer

The Portland Timbers ran away with 3 points in Montreal after two goals in 6 minutes proved too much to overcome. Just a minute after Diego Valeri’s goal put the Timbers up 2-0, Dominic Oduro pulled the Impact to within 1. Jack McInerney found the back of the net just 7 minutes later, but not before shoving his defender into the net.

Crew’s Unselfish Play Seals Victory over Sounders

With a 2-1 lead over Seattle, Hector Jimenez passed up an open look 10-yards from the near post to find a wide-open Kei Kamara for his second of the night. Clint Dempsey slammed home Obafemi Martins’ rebound to pull the Sounders within one, but it wasn’t enough. Columbus’ third win in 4 games improved them to 4-3-2, good for 4th in the East.

Mattocks’ Magical Moves Pour it on Philly

Whitecaps faithful were given a treat on Saturday when Vancouver drilled the Philadelphia Union 3-0. The game had already been decided, but Darren Mattocks had to have the last say. After catching up to a long ball, Mattocks weaved in and out before getting on his right foot and ripping it past Brian Sylvestre.

LA Galaxy Fall to FC Dallas, 2-1

In the prelude to their trip to Orlando, the Galaxy dropped to 3-3-5 and the last Western Conference playoff spot, tied in points with Real Salt Lake with an extra game played. Dallas sealed the win in the 87th minute after Mauro Diaz flicked a beautiful ball up and over the LA back line to hit Tesho Akindele, who chested past a sprawling Jaime Penedo before tapping it in.
