Match Preview: Orlando City Return Home To Face Vancouver

ORLANDO – March 20, 2015 – Orlando City Soccer Club (1-0-1, 4 points) aims to continue building its momentum when the Lions face Vancouver Whitecaps FC (1-1-0, 3 points) on Saturday, March 21. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.

"It will obviously be a very difficult game," said Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath. "I think they proved last week that they're very difficult on the counter and they have a lot of threats in a number of important areas of the field. So, when we're in possession of the ball in their half, we're going to have to be very mindful that if we turn the ball over cheaply, that we're in the right spots behind the ball."


Orlando City return to the Orlando Citrus Bowl after recording its first-ever Major League Soccer (MLS) victory against the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium in the second week of league play. Despite creating multiple scoring-chances throughout the match, it took 73 minutes for the Lions to eventually break-through when forward Pedro Ribeiro forced an own-goal from Houston goalkeeper Tyler Deric after providing immense pressure.

The 1-0 win over Houston also marked the Club's first clean-sheet in MLS, with the Lions' defense only allowing one shot on target through two matches played.


Vancouver enters Saturday's fixture after also recording its first win of the 2015 campaign on the road against the Chicago Fire. Both sides battled to a 0-0 draw for the majority of the match, but Octavio Rivero tucked away Steven Beitashour's ball into the box to provide the Canadian-based club with the 1-0 victory.


The Whitecaps FC previously opened its 2015 MLS account with a 3-1 loss at home to Toronto FC.
