Development Academy Recaps 11.6

USSDA Win

The Orlando City U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams had extremely positive results against the North Carolina Fusion and Chargers Soccer Club (CSC) this past weekend.

The U-14s took very little time to find the back of the net against Chargers Soccer Club (CSC), as Alejandro Pereira scored in the 3rd minute of play. However, Owen Huffman managed to level the score-line for CSC in the 20th minute.

Nevertheless, Pereira secured a hat-trick by scoring in the 31st minute and the 75th minute, capping off an excellent performance.

“The team came out flying on Saturday, creating many opportunities early,” said U-14s Head Coach Darren Powell. “However, Clearwater worked hard and got a goal to tie the game. Throughout the remainder of the match, the team played well in spurts. When we kept the game simple in the windy conditions, we had more success. The team continues to work hard.”

The U-15s produced a strong 5-1 victory over the North Carolina Fusion at home on Saturday. Nathaniel Adamolekun and Asyed Sanched both notched a brace in the win over the Fusion. City Midfielder David Loera added the final goal of the match in the 80th minute of play.

“The performance from the team was good, aside from conceding a penalty,” said U-15s Head Coach Jeff Negalha. “We found it very difficult breaking down the opponent in the early stages of the match.  However, we were relentless in every phase of play and found a way to breakthrough.  All five goals came off outstanding collective and individual play.”

The U18s began their match against the Fusion very strongly, scoring in the 3rd minute. However, the Fusion equalized in the 37th minute when Matteo Busio found the back of the net. With both teams pushing for the equalizer, the second half turned into a scrappy affair as the match ended with a 1-1 score-line.

“We found it difficult to get the ball down and pass against a well-organized Fusion side,” said U-18s Head Coach Paul Shaw. “We have to begin preparing for what will be another tough game against Weston this weekend.”
