USSDA U16s and U18s Come Out on Top

USSDA Win

The Development Academy U16s and U18s both came out on top against the Capital Area Railhawks last weekend.

The U16s played the Railhawks on Saturday, defeating the Carolina-based side 2-0. The second half proved to be the better portion of the game for the boys, as both goals were scored in the 57th and 76th minute.

When asked about the game, Head Coach Jeff Negalha said “We competed very well in the match. Our first half was played with a lot of attacking and defensive intensity. We continued the intensity in the second half but executed better ball decisions and possession, which ultimately presented more goal opportunities. Our two goals were outstanding sequences and very good finishing.”

The U18s also gained three points this weekend, winning 4-2 over the Railhawks. The Lions had a strong first half, scoring three of their four goals before halftime. David Lopez helped lift his team to victory, notching two goals in the game.

Head Coach Paul Shaw talked about the Lions’ performance on Saturday saying, “The U18s put pressure on CASL from the start and managed to get an early goal. CASL equalized soon after but this didn’t deter the boys from attacking with pace and creating many chances. Orlando City scored a fourth early in the second half and while they didn’t play as well in the second as the first, they still came out comfortable 4-2 winners.”

All three teams will be back in action this Saturday when they face the Chargers Soccer Club.
