Orlando Weekly unveiled the results for its Best of Orlando (BOO) nominations today, with Orlando City SC receiving multiple awards for the second consecutive year, including Best Sports Team.


City also received the Editor’s Pick for Best Marketing Campaign, honoring its #PaintTheCityPurple initiative. Orlando City kick-started the #PaintTheCityPurple project in May to release its new Major League Soccer logo, allowing prominent local street artists the opportunity to create murals that incorporated the club’s logo and unique aspects of Orlando.


“We are honored to be recognized by our fans and Orlando Weekly readers for the second straight year,” said Orlando City President Phil Rawlins. “Orlando’s passion for the game continues to grow as we march toward the 2014 USL Pro playoffs and our 2015 MLS debut. The City Beautiful has officially planted its flag as the ‘Soccer Capital of the South.’ ”


Orlando Weekly’s annual Best of Orlando issue originated in 2005, featuring the best Orlando has to offer in dining, music, nightlife, arts and much more. Each year, the BOO provides an opportunity for thousands of local residents to voice their opinion from a multitude of categories.
