A Race For the Boot

In Orlando City B’s last match, forward Jack Lynn recorded his 15th goal of the season, which equals his total from the 2022 season and puts him just one goal behind Matt Myers of New York City FC II in the Golden Boot race. Lynn found the back of the net in the 82nd minute of the match, converting a penalty kick and icing the game for the Lions.

In the Lions’ most recent 4-1 win over Columbus Crew 2, Shak Mohammed recorded a goal and an assist in the match. Mohammed’s goal came in the second half, after he was able to put a rebound effort away off a Wilfredo Rivera shot attempt. Just 11 minutes later, Mohammed would turn provider as he laid the ball off to Jhon Solís who was able to complete the finish. The goal counted as the Duke University product’s fifth goal of the season and his third in the last two games.

Otero Says No!

Orlando City B’s goalkeeper Javier Otero saved a penalty kick in the 71st minute of the match against Columbus Crew 2. Otero has now made three penalty-kick saves in regulation on the year. The OCB netminder has also seen two additional penalties missed by the opposition when they have stepped up to attempt a penalty kick.

Seeing Double

City forward Wilfredo Rivera and midfielder Jhon Solís also picked up goals in City’s most recent victory. Rivera struck first in the first half, scoring his second goal of the 2023 season and finishing off a cross from Alex Freeman. Solís also earned his second goal of the year with a second-half strike. The Lions now have 11 players with multiple goals this season.
