Seattle Sounders beat the Portland Timbers 2-1
In what has become one of the biggest rivalries in United States Soccer, the Seattle Sounders defeated the Portland Timbers 2-1 on Sunday in front of an announced crowd of 64,358. Goals by Obafemi Martins and Brad Evans were enough to secure the win and the season series.

Jurgen Klinsmann calls Six MLS players to represent US National Team during friendlies
The United States National Team is set to play two friendlies this coming week against Peru (Sept. 4), and Brazil (Sept. 8). Jurgen Klinsmann released the roster for the friendlies this past week, which includes a mixture of MLS and European players. MLS players who will represent the US National Team are Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy), Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Mix Diskerud (NYCFC), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Omar Gonzales (LA Galaxy), and Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City).

Montreal Impact part ways with Frank Klopas; promote Mauro Biello
The Montreal Impact have parted ways with head coach Frank Klopas after the Impact failed to win the Amway Canadian Championship final, and also lost this past Saturday in a high-profile matchup against Toronto FC. Klopas has been replaced by his assistant, Mauro Biello. The Impact face the Chicago Fire on Saturday night.
